First, you can try to do a reading specifically on a time frame. It is easiest to use as few cards as possible, I usually go with three.

This way, with your focal point being "when" or "how long", a few cards should give you this information.

 

If there is confusion about past, present, or future in your readings, then a short, three card spread (past, present, future) can be drawn. Set the cards down focusing on the first card representing past, second present, third future and see what comes up. One of them SHOULD fit into your last reading that has left you confused.

 

Another way, is to start the reading over again, focusing both on your question AND the time period.

Often times, for me, a certain card will come up that will remind me of a holiday. This is usually acurate in "when" questions.

 

Now you can also create a spread (see "spreads") that will suit your timeline question. Remember, we are not limeted to what is in the books. Create your own!

Worst case senerio, if timelines are a major issue for you, purchase a deck such as the "celtic tree oracle". These types of decks focus on "tree's" which have specific months in bloom ect......and should be an easy deck to use specifically on a timeline question. OR find a deck that suits this type of focal point.
