The Shuffle:

Now everyone does this a little differently, and it should be done how YOU are comfortable with. Just because the book says "cut the deck in three piles" doesn't mean you have to. You don't even need to cut the deck at all if you don't want, or just in half if you want. However you are comfortable.

Now while we are shuffling the cards the question arizes do we think about the question at hand, or keep our calm, clear, "bla state" mind while we shuffle?
Again, whatever you are comfortable with OR whatever works for you.
Myself, I like to keep a clear mind as I shuffle, it prepares my mind or triggers it in a way for the task at hand. It is when I cut the deck that I focus on the question at hand. But again, whatever you are comfortable doing or whatever works for you.

The Tarot has so many "rules" in the books, so many "reversed possitions", "higharchy" ect, that ultimatly doesn't need to be worried about so much.
If it all works for you, then great, but keep in mind that it is US with the answers...not the cards, so relying on THEM compleatly will again, only bring you to a "cold reading".
Why fog your mind with confusion that isn't nessesary? Take the cards for what they are....a tool, and use them accordingly.

The Spreads:

The card spread, is how you lay out your cards. There are many in the book, I used these when I started out with great results however as I encorperated my own, I found the results better yet.

Some people like structure, with each card representing certain things, such as past, present, future, obsticles, hopes, ect..ect...and this is fine. Actually most find using spreads like this the easiest when starting out...Just don't feel limited to these spreads, create your own!

Remember, the guidance is coming from within US, not the cards, so using a spread that we are comfortable with is going to give you more accurate results than if you are to use someone elses.

Myself, I normally use 5 rows of 5 cards. I look at the cards as a whole and allow them to sort of tell me a story in a way. However again, lots of people need more structure than that, so feel free to use whatever spread you'd like.

Sorry, I have no pictures of any card spreads at the moment, however there are many sites available online that give detailed directions on many different spreads.
Again, some of them are in depth spreads, (eg. card 1 and 5 need to be read together with cards 1 8 and 2.....lol...you can find your focus easily lost in these detailed spreads when again, it is not really needed).
